Dept of Political Science

The Department of Political Science is one of the oldest Departments of Tufanganj Mahavidalaya; it commenced with the very inception of the college itself (in 1971). Starting initially with the general or programme course, the Honours Course in Political Science set off from 1982 onwards following the growing demands of the students.

At present (2022) there are two full-time teachers and two NET/SET qualified guest teachers. The departmental teachers provide text books, Journals and electronic learning resources to the students. All the teachers are actively engaged in research activities.

Students are encouraged to and they very often discuss burning as well as difficult topics/issues they deem necessary with the departmental teachers both within and outside of the class rooms. Apart from mainstream mode of instruction, the department organises, almost on regular basis, various co-curricular activities like Seminar, workshop, Youth Parliament, Quiz Competition etc. The department also organises debates on subject related topic or Current issues.

The Department does have reputation in teaching, research and placement. Considerable numbers of passed-out students have completed Post-Graduation degree from various universities and many are employed as permanent faculties in universities, colleges and school.
